Kinetic Integration will no longer be billing insurance as of January 1st, 2022

Starting January 1st, 2022 Kinetic Integration will no longer be billing insurance. This was not an easy decision to make, however, since becoming a single practitioner practice, I have taken on the roles of billing in addition to patient care. Over the last couple of years the amount of time and steps required to bill insurance has skyrocketed. This ultimately has a negative impact on my time for patient care.

So what does this mean for you? Instead of wondering what insurance will pay for the cost of each visit, each visit type (new patient, follow up 60 & 30 min) will have a set price, and payment plans will be available if needed. If you have insurance that you would like to bill, I can provide the forms for you to submit.

Thank you for your understanding.

Answers to frequently asked questions

How much will visits cost?

Currently, new patient visits will be $125, hour long appointments will be $75 and 30 minute appointments will be $40. Payment will be due at the end of each visit. If there is to be a change in these fees, you will be notified prior to your appointment.

Can I still bill my own insurance?

Yes. If you have insurance that you would like to bill, forms will be provided to you at your request. The exception to this would be Medicare. Billing Medicare is a more complex discussion that is best had over the phone (503.924.6535) or in person.

What if I don’t think I can afford the upfront cost?

If you are wanting to schedule an appointment and are worried about the upfront cost, you may request a payment plan.

Are there any instances where you will still bill insurance?

Yes. There are 3 instances where insurance will be billed on behalf of the patient: Motor Vehicle Collision/Person Injury (PIP). Workers Compensation and some Medicare cases.

When treating an individual with a motor vehicle, PIP or workers compensation case, the individual typically does not have out of pocket expenses. Kinetic Integration will continue to do the billing in these cases so that the patient does not have to come up with funds that they would otherwise not have to pay.

For Medicare, this is a more complex topic. As a chiropractor, Medicare will only cover chiropractic adjustments. This means that any other charges would not be covered by Medicare. To further complicate things, Medicare will not pay for preventative/maintenance care. This means that anyone coming in regularly for care without a recent injury or flare-up will not be covered. This would include chiropractic adjustments on a regular basis. That said, if a chiropractic adjustment is performed and it is an acute injury/flare-up, Kinetic Integration is required to bill Medicare. Patients are not allowed to bill Medicare on their own behalf. If you have questions regarding your Medicare coverage at this clinic please call (503) 924-6535.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

Your first visit will include a history, discussion of what is currently going on. This will be followed by an evaluation of your current complaint. Following the evaluation, there is a discussion of the examination findings. If time permits treatment will be performed and if you have multiple complaints, both the history and evaluation will likely take longer and may reduce the amount of time available for treatment during this initial visit.

Due to the history of your condition and the evaluation, the initial visit is longer and will be more expensive than subsequent visits.

What to Expect on Follow-Up Visits

Follow-up visits will be shorter and focused more on treatment. They will address how you responded to the first treatment (if treatment was performed on the initial visit). There will be an increasing emphasis on progressing treatment.

Since there is less time allotted for these visits, if there is a new injury or new region of complaint please let the person scheduling your appointment (ie. when scheduling online select the “new Injury” option).  This will allow them to schedule a little more time. With a new injury or region of complaint, an evaluation will be necessary prior to treatment. This evaluation will be shorter and more focused since much of the background intake has already been done.
